Day Five: Word of the Year

What better way to end 2017 than to decide on a word to guide me in 2018.

After much rumination, and a little more inspiration, the word I have finally landed on is change. Thanks to Primrose at Taking a New Path and her post about things we can control (and things we can’t).

Here are some things I would like to perhaps change:

And here are a few things I will try to have the “serenity to accept” (minus the grays – those I will continue to fight tooth and nail):

The idea of change ties in nicely with my wish to become more active and more intentional but also leaves room for the internal rumination that helps me find peace. I’m going to seek to change my actions and my thoughts, a little bit at a time. I don’t want to fall into the trap of pushing myself too hard and then beating myself up over not doing enough.

My first change is a big one and already underway – I’m starting 2018 stone cold sober.

  1. Hi just found your blog. I am barraging (is that even a word?) myself with Allen Carr and Jason Vale books and audio books and also finding blogs. I am constantly reading and listening while in the car. I sincerely wish you the best.
I started my own blog but have not published any posts yet. I don’t feel ready to go public yet. But jounalizing my thoughts seems therapeutic for me.
One other thing I found was a podcast called Take a Break. It is a different slant on not drinking. Best, J.
