Day 281: a tiny big deal

I’ve been mulling over an interesting occurrence from the wedding reception last weekend, one that absolutely would not have taken place if I had been drinking.

One of my sister-in-laws came up to me towards the end of the night and I told her I was starting to get bored (code for everyone here is getting too drunk for my tolerance). She laughed and said – you are amazing. Then she went on to tell me how impressed she has been to see me stop drinking. Then she went on to say that she will likely need to quit herself! I tried to laugh that off at first because it was unexpected and I wasn’t sure she was serious. But she insisted she was.

And I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

Another ripple in the pond, I guess.

Happy Sober Wednesday,

jen

  1. I thought you might well have someone say that or think that. Probably more than one too. I think from time to time about how much of a hold this stuff has on people. And really believe when you’re ready you’re just ready that’s the difference between talking ourselves back into ‘moderation’ or some other justification to drink again and not. We remember not being able to remember or something like that. Having relapsed a fair few times this time feels different. We feel so unsocial in situations where we are used to having something to loosen ourselves up and at times like we’re missing out maybe, I think we just have our eyes wide open now. The world is truly a different and beautiful place sober. What an awesome thing though to be the inspiration for someone else to think about stopping. You’re Bringing the cool to being sober 😎 rock it! On a side note I just found out the yoghurt covered craisins I’ve been eating ALL day have 4 times the calories in them that I had originally thought they did. Thought it was to good to be true. Anywho happy day 🤗
