Day 263: more evolution

I can’t quite put my finger on it exactly yet, but there is definitely a difference between say 150 days sober, or thereabouts, and beyond 250. And it’s all good stuff – easier, more peaceful, just plain better. In 2016 I remember feeling disappointed at around 150 days, sort of like is this it? I’m really not sure it’s worth it. I felt like everyone was going on and on about how great sober life was and I just wasn’t getting it. And pretty soon I was off and running with a “controlled drinking” plan. What I didn’t understand or even consider then was that I really just wasn’t there yet. Better things were yet to come.

I’m enjoying a productive and fun sober weekend. Hope you are too.

Happy Sober Saturday,

jen

  1. I’m so looking forward to that feeling. Day 75 here and although I’m pretty stable in my resolve to stay sober I’m not silly and need to be mindful of the in between now and then and beyond. But I love being sober I just love it. Dear girl was poorly all night last night I was thankful to be sober while I stayed awake to watch her etc. so so good to know it keeps getting better even with the sometimes rocky parts. Your blog is so good. Thank you 🌸

  2. Thanks for posting this. I’m a little over 7 months and feeling like, is this it? And I feel jipped that I never felt the pink cloud. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I’m on this journey, but it is good to read from you that it gets even better. Thanks for sharing daily. It really helps.

  3. So inspiring! I am feeling that “is this it?” I know it’s worth it. Been here before – over 8 months sober in 2017! Then, like you, returned to a “controlled drinking plan” 🙄 🙄 One thing is for sure…everything, repeat Everything!, is easier, calmer, more peaceful without drinking. Even stressful moments or cranky moods – alcohol fixes nothing.

    Staying focused on the good…#DAY103!
