Day 270: 9 months

Nine months and a new (sober) life is born. Hah! It’s not quite that simple, but I do like the analogy.

Belle wrote today, “the investment to maintain the momentum is minimal compared to the regret of not keeping going.”

Yes.

Creating a new sober life (that you love) takes time. It doesn’t all come at once and at the beginning it seems almost impossible. But it is very possible, with some ingenuity and a lot of patience. Instead of pining for wine, my biggest issue on most weekends now is there aren’t enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do. But this makes me feel fulfilled instead of stressed (mostly). And yes, some of the things I used to do have turned out to be boring without alcohol. But it turns out there are lots of other ways to spend time. You give up the booze and then (gradually) you find out what they are.

Happy Sober Saturday,
